Sustainable wound care

The environmental impact of wound care is significant – hydrocolloid bonds alone produce nearly 30 million kilos of waste every year. Traditional hydrocolloid bonds are made using synthetic plastic components that take around 400 years to decompose in nature. Recycling wound care materials is not possible due to the risk of infection and material properties.

The industry needs more environmentally friendly material alternatives using renewable raw materials There is also a need for a product that takes into consideration the production processes’ environmental footprint.

Ecological innovations can provide significant added value to healthcare organizations as well as healthcare companies that manufacture consumer products. The market size of hydrocolloid bonds is estimated to be over $2.9 billion by 2029. At the moment, there are no ecological material solutions available on the market.

Dermeco aims for rapid growth and international markets by licensing its technology to the use of leading companies in the industry. In the preliminary sales negotiations, there has been a high demand for our material.
